  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the sweet potatoes, white sugar, eggs, milk, salt, 1/3 cup melted butter, and vanilla extract. Spread into a 2-quart baking dish.

  3. In a separate bowl, mix the brown sugar and flour. Cut in the 3 tablespoons softened butter until the mixture is crumbly, then stir in the pecans. Sprinkle the mixture over the sweet potato mixture.

  4. Bake for 30 minutes in the preheated oven.
