  1. Preheat oven to 275°F (135°C).

  2. In a large bowl, combine all the dried fruits and brandy. Let soak for at least 24 hours.

  3. In a separate bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

  4. In another bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, spices, and salt.

  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture.

  6. Stir in the soaked fruits and nuts.

  7. Pour the batter into a greased and lined pan.

  8. Bake for about 3 hours or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  9. Let cool before slicing and serving.
