Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a small bowl, combine the crumbled bacon, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped chives, garlic powder, and black pepper. Mix well and set aside.

On a lightly floured surface, unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet. Roll it out slightly to smooth any creases and make it easier to work with.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and water to create an egg wash.

Brush the entire surface of the puff pastry with the egg wash using a pastry brush.

Sprinkle the bacon and cheese mixture evenly over the puff pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.

Starting from one end, carefully roll the puff pastry into a tight log, similar to a jelly roll.

Using a sharp knife, slice the log into 1-inch sections. You should end up with about 12 swirls.
