Instructions

1. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

2. Add the egg and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.

3. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.

5. Divide the dough into separate portions if using different food coloring.

6. Add a few drops of food coloring to each portion and knead until the color is evenly distributed.

7. Wrap the colored dough in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.

8. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

9. Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
